Let's be honest: nobody likes the sound of a dental drill. High pitched, shrill, and outright terrifying to some, even the most reasonable people clap their hands over their ears when they encounter it.

We know that you're not visiting us because you love our dental drill. However, you don't have to be its biggest fan to recognize how important it is to giving you a healthy set of teeth.

Five Facts About the Dental Drill

The first dental drill is believed to be over 9,000 years old – aren't you glad you didn't need a cavity filled back then? The dental drill has come a long way since then, taking the guesswork and fear out of dental procedures.

•	Our dental drills shoot water into your mouth to protect you. The friction of the dental drill can generate great amounts of heat, but squirting water into your mouth helps lower temperature and protect your mouth and teeth.
•	Our drills are made out of tungsten-carbide. They are extremely durable!
•	We may not even call it a drill in front of you! Handpiece sounds so much less frightening, right?
•	We use two different types of drills when working on your teeth. The high speed drills spins in excess of 250,000 RPMs! We also use comparatively slower drills, too, at just 8,000 RPMs.
•	Dental work is a dirty job, but we love doing it! Did you ever wonder why we wear face masks when working on you? In less than a minute or so, we are exposed to so much bacteria while working on your teeth, the equivalent of you sneezing right in our faces!
